Bolton Bridge Cottages are a cluster of cottages on the edge of the River Wharfe on the Bolton Abbey Estate. They serve as accommodation for staff who work within the nearby Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa.

As the river Wharfe is one of the fastest rivers to rise in the UK, the cottages are prone to flooding on a regular basis – this always causes severe damage and disruption.
After a particularly bad flood, our initial involvement was to clear, clean and repair the flood-damaged interiors of the cottages and to protect the cottages by minimising future flood damage with flood prevention systems. We did this by creating an earth bund within the grounds of the cottages and to install flood gates to all external doors. Once complete we were requested to refurbish the cottage interiors with fixtures and fittings that would withstand floodwater.
All kitchens were fabricated from stainless steel with removable storage and all appliances were housed above waist level – a simple yet effective future-proofing method. The ground floors were tiled throughout and the cottages were decorated. The refurbishment was never about a high-end luxury finish but was focussed around functionality and damage prevention. The client, however, was very happy with the finished results of our work.

Nesfield Court is a large privately owned manor house on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and Bolton Abbey Estate. This large residence was in need of extensive modernisation when the new occupiers took possession. Lion Construction were very client driven on this project to restore it back to it’s former glory.

Lion Construction carried out a full shop fit out in the Stratford Westfield shopping centre. The striking contemporary interior highlights the vintage, rock and jazz style of the retailer. The shop focuses on a chandelier canopy fixed to a suspended mirrored raft.
